Claim of the Week: Strangeness on a Train edition

Via NewsInsurances:

Taiwan’s high court on Wednesday ordered two  brothers — one of whom is dead — to pay $1.8 million over a train derailment  they staged in an unsuccessful bid to kill the older man’s wife and claim an  insurance payout.

You read that right: They tried to kill her by derailing a train. It didn’t work, so they poisoned her with snake venom in the hospital. Then one of the brothers committed suicide.

Sadness and weirdness galore.
